airberlin and the Hungarian airline Malév will in future be offering their customers selected flights as codeshare services. The codeshare agreement comes into force today and applies to flights from 30th October 2011.
Malév flights from Berlin, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Frankfurt and Zurich to Budapest can now be booked via airberlin. Travellers from Germany will have a choice of convenient non-stop flights to the Hungarian capital. Malév passengers will benefit from airberlin’s extensive German domestic and European routes and will also be able to book connecting flights to destinations such as Düsseldorf and Oslo.
“As we prepare to join the oneworld® airline alliance, we are delighted to have a new partner at our side. With flights to and from Hungary we can offer our customers a new, attractive destination and strengthen our presence in Central Europe,” said Paul Gregorowitsch, Chief Commercial Officer airberlin.
“The agreement we have concluded with airberlin means that our route network is expanded with new destinations. Through this airline, which is shortly to join the oneworld alliance, our customers can access new destinations in Germany and elsewhere in Europe, and soon – from the date of accession – they will also be able to enjoy all the advantages deriving from the carrier’s membership of oneworld,” said Lóránt Limburger, Chief Executive Officer of Malév, after signing the agreement.
A further measure currently being planned is to extend the codeshare agreement to the frequent flyer programmes of both airlines, i.e. to airberlin topbonus and Malév Duna Club.
