Seoul Tourism Organization Hosts Take 5 and Savor Seoul Road Show in London
Seoul’s meetings industry was on display for 45 top UK buyers and meetings industry professionals at the Seoul Tourism Organization’s special road show in London. Held at the city’s fashionable unique venue Altitude 360, attendees were invited to Take 5 and Savor Seoul. Under this theme, the event explored Seoul’s eclectic traditional and modern designs, varied cuisine, ecological attractions, hospitality to visitors, and entertainment options.
Designed to promote Seoul as a business and tourism destination, the road show gave guests a glimpse into the world’s current fifth-ranked city for conventions (according to the Union of International Associations). The night featured a welcoming drinks event, traditional Korean music performance, shadow play magic show, and Korean-inspired cuisine, followed by a special presentation on Seoul by Seoul Convention Bureau (SCB) Vice-President Maureen O’Crowley
The presentation introduced attendees to the many services and support packages offered by the SCB (a division of the Seoul Tourism Organization) to organizers looking to host an event in the city. After the presentation, Vice-President O’Crowley said “We were very impressed with the turnout of industry professionals eager to know more about the Korean capital of Seoul and what we have to offer them. Some had years of experience and came for the most up to date information; while other were keen to learn as much as possible, telling us their clients have shown increasing interest in Seoul as an exciting meetings destination that has yet to be discovered by most.”
Also in attendance were members of the Seoul MICE Alliance, a network of the city’s top meetings industry businesses, including convention venues, hotels, and professional convention organizers (PCO). These included the Lotte Hotel Seoul, Holiday Planners Co. Ltd, Jane Tour & Travel, and WOW Corea Tour.
Buyers took advantage of the opportunity to meet one-on-one with Seoul MICE Alliance representatives, and many remained to chat with representatives after the evening’s program came to a conclusion
The London event is the first of a busy fall line-up for the SCB. In October, the SCB will host its fourth annual road show in Bangkok, and soon after participate in the inaugural IMEX America expo in Las Vegas.
The Seoul Tourism Organization (STO) is a joint venture launched by the city and private enterprises in February 2008 with a core mission to promote Seoul as a convention and tourism destination. The Seoul Convention Bureau, a division of the STO, is the official government-sponsored body representing and promoting the city overseas as a prime venue for meetings, conventions and exhibitions.
