Codeshare flights on four routes between Germany and Istanbul as well as two Turkish domestic routes now available for booking
airberlin and Pegasus, Turkey’s second largest airline, have concluded a codeshare agreement, thereby extending their existing partnership. Passengers can now book flights between Düsseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Munich and Berlin, and Istanbul. Two codeshare services within Turkey, between Istanbul and Izmir as well as Ankara, are offered in combination with flights from Germany to Istanbul.
“We are very happy to announce the codeshare agreement with our Turkish partner Pegasus today. The agreement further strengthens our cooperation to date in Turkey, which is an important and growing market. Passengers can now book their tickets for selected flights to Istanbul directly with airberlin. Furthermore, the services between Istanbul and Ankara as well as Izmir open up connecting flights within Turkey to our customers. We are committed to our continued and successful cooperation with our partner Pegasus into the future,” remarked Ulf Hüttmeyer, CFO airberlin.
“Pegasus started to fly to Germany in 2007 and has continuously expanded its route network ever since. Pegasus now flies to five destinations in Germany, with a total of 40 frequencies a week. Today we are very pleased to announce our codeshare arrangement with airberlin, which will further strengthen our presence in Germany. We see this cooperation as the first step in exploring more opportunities in the future. This cooperation will give our joint customers greater choice at the most affordable prices,” said Sertaç Haybat, CEO Pegasus Airlines.
In the past, passengers of the second largest German airline and the largest privately owned airline in Turkey were able to find the flights of the other airline on their respective websites, even though bookings had to be made directly with the airline operating the flight. This online sales partnership will continue for selected routes. Furthermore, the two airlines plan to implement a charter partnership with effect from 1st November 2011.
