Petul Hotelbetriebs GmbH has its roots on the German Island of Föhr, where in 1993 the thatched-roof farmhouse of Friesenhof Peters was turned into a guesthouse and apartment hotel. Six years later, remodeling was begun on the company’s main establishment, the Petul Hotel in Stoppenberg, a district of the German city of Essen, followed by its opening and the concurrent establishment of Petul Hotelbetriebs GmbH in 2003. Several additional Petul Apart Hotels were opened between 2005 and 2010, expanding the group’s portfolio to comprise eight hotels with a total capacity of 182 rooms in the Ruhr Metropolis by 2011. Another 100 beds will be added in selected locations across the Ruhr Metropolis in 2012.

Petul Group’s philosophy is based on the management’s ambition to familiarize visitors to the Ruhr Metropolis with the region’s history of coal mining and steel manufacturing through in part authentic historical buildings, such as the two leaning hotels at the Zollverein World Heritage Site. A specialist for tourist accommodation in the Ruhr Metropolis, Petul Apart Hotels are distinguished by centrality, modern comfort, up-to-date technical standards and flawless service for short and long-term guests. With harmoniously matched colors, a sophisticated lighting system and appointments from high-quality materials such as oak wood, the stylishly designed rooms and apartments offer guests an oasis of tranquility that is predestined to be a starting point for creative and exciting exploration tours of the Ruhr Metropolis – be it for culture, cuisine, museums or sports.
