Wolfgang Grimus, 45, joins airberlin as the company’s new Head of Network Planning and Development on 1 May 2011. Grimus, originally from Austria, graduated from the Amstetten Commercial Academy and is completing an executive MBA by Danube University Krems. Grimus started his professional career at Austrian Airlines in 1985, initially in the Finance department and later in Marketing. In 1994, he moved to Lauda Air as Head of Route Development and, two years later, was appointed Director Network Management.
He returned to Austrian Airlines in 2001 as Head of Network Planning. Grimus subsequently gained a year’s experience as Head of Market Research before being named as Head of Network Development Eastern Europe & Austria. From 2006 to 2010, Grimus was responsible for Central & Eastern Europe at Austrian Airlines in his role as Director Commercial Passenger Division.
In his new role, Grimus will report to Christian Peter, Director for Route Management, who is responsible for route planning and revenue management. Peter had the following to say: “I am delighted to welcome Wolfgang Grimus. He is an acknowledged expert in route planning and development and his skills will further strengthen the route management team.”
