ITE MICE, which has been growing in scale and influences since its launch in 2006, remains the only business and MICE travel fair not only in Hong Kong but also in the Pearl River Delta. With over 100 international exhibitors targeting the MICE market, the two trade days of ITE MICE in 2010 were attended by 2870 corporate visitors, in addition to thousands of regional visitors from the travel trade and media.
Based on our onsite survey, these corporate visitors came from different economic sectors: 17% from insurance, banking and finance; 15% from the event and PR industry; 14% from government and associations; and 13% from Education, Training and other professional fields. Over 30% of them came from organizations with 100 staff or more, while 49% from those with 50 staff or less. Further, 43% reported involving in policy, budgeting or supplier selection for MICE and business travel in their corporations, while 26% in planning and organizing incentive trips, for internal or for clients.
The relatively fast growth of ITE MICE is more a result of our comprehensive package on MICE travel, while the concurrent holding with the long established ITE, which more focuses on leisure including up scale travel, certainly helps especially MICE trips can never be separated entirely from leisure.
In broad term, our ITE MICE package includes separate visitor promotions, being additionally supported by trade associations of the event industry, and designating a Corporate Travel Day with a series of related seminars. In fact, the show daily in 2010, while it covered both ITE MICE and ITE, was published by an international MICE trade magazine.
Our seminars in the Corporate Travel Day covered a wide range of topics, from Setting Travel Policy, Aspects in Event Management, Attracting More Media Attendance, to practical subject like F & B Menu Selection for Different Events. Corporate visitors responded well to these seminars and they drew some 1300 pre-registrations.
In 2010, ITE MICE and ITE together drew over 600 exhibitors from 46 countries and regions, with over 30 official pavilions or stands but nearly a hundred tourism boards including those from provincial and municipal levels, which often involve in both leisure and MICE travel. Among them, MICE or convention bureau from Indonesia, Hong Kong and Macau had the largest presence.
In ITE & MICE 2010, there were over 11000 visitors during the two trade days with over 25% of them from mainland China and abroad, and nearly 70000 visitors during the two public days who mostly are up scale travelers as over 80% of them prefer traveling in FIT or tailored made groups. Interesting, nearly 10% of our public visitors reported having made 3 or more overnight business trips in the past twelve months.
ITE MICE and ITE, which will next be held from June 9 to 12, 2011 at halls 1A to 1E of the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center, are again supported by the China National Tourism Administration, Hong Kong Tourism Board, the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong and the Macau Government Tourists Office.
