“THE GOLDEN CITY GATE” is an creative and innovative expression of the tourism branch and is organized yearly since 2001 within the scope of the International Tourism exchange of ITB as an international tourism film competition.

In the 10th edition on the next ITB from 9th to 13th of March, in the ITB-Cinema (hall 7.2a) there is the international film print-media competition “THE GOLDEN CITY GATE “.

5% increase in Trade Visitors, 1% increase in Total Attendance, 55,300 Pre-Scheduled Appointments

This year’s 22nd EIBTM attracted 3,125 exhibiting companies from over 90 countries. The number of trade visitors was 4,010 reflecting a 5% increase on last year and total attendance including Hosted Buyers reached 8,395

AIBTM 2011 (www.aibtm.com), the meetings and events industry’s first ever large-scale exhibition taking place in the US (June 21 – 23, 2011, Baltimore), is continuing to attract international exhibitors from six continents and the four quadrants of America. As a result of EIBTM’s success last week in Barcelona, a number of the show’s exhibitors signed on the spot for next year’s AIBTM event.

This year’s ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) TRAVEX (Travel Exchange) 2011 registered an overwhelming response, with over 500 exhibition booths fully sold by end October 2010. All ten member-nations will be well-represented at this annual leisure travel trade event which showcases the largest contingent of ASEAN destination products and services.

Following an online vote by members, PATA is delighted to announce the five finalists for the 2011 ‘Face of the Future’ competition.

The successful individuals are: Deepak Tamang, managing director, Raven Tours and Treks, Bhutan; DK Singh, founder and president, Heritage Group of Institutions, India; Tavalea Nilon of Samoa; Hsu Htet Hlaing, managing director, Unique Asia Travels & Tours Co. Ltd, Myanmar and Sitpasu Thongsuk, owner of Fair House Villas and Spa, Thailand.

Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Haruhiko Kuroda last month praised the leaders of Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand for their strong commitment to subregional co-operation, but said the grouping now needed to deliver on its initial promise of accelerating economic development in its poorest provinces.
