A 7-night cruise will be auctioned at The Oil Barons Ball, one of the most anticipated events in Dubai
Royal Caribbean International donated a 7-night cruise on one of the most elegant cruise ships worldwide, Brilliance of the Seas, sailing around the region to the 2010 Oil Barons Ball. The Oil Barons Ball – the largest gala of its kind in Europe and The Middle East – aims to break it’s own record on 12th November and raise over half a million Dirhams for its official charity, Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP). As has been the events tradition, proceeds from the silent auction will be used to grant wishes of children afflicted with cancer and to support the charity. This year’s wish list ranges from laptops, school fees and a car.
Money raised will also go towards a mobile mammogram unit, which will travel all over the UAE offering free screening to women, especially those in the most remote and deprived areas.

By recognizing volunteers, making the wishes of kids come true, offering scholarships and helping preserve the world’s oceans, we strive to be a true partner to our communities,” said Lakshmi Durai, Executive Director Royal Caribbean International, Middle East. 
“The money raised at the Oil Barons Ball really makes a difference in the lives of cancer patients and especially for the nine children whose wishes will come true. We hope that the 7-night cruise will animate guests to bid at the auction and contribute to raising a record amount for the charity.”
Brilliance of the Seas debuted cruises from the United Arab Emirates in January 2010. New itineraries in 2011 will include 7-night cruises from Dubai around the region and 12-night Dubai and India cruise featuring ports of call such as Muscat, Oman; Cochin, Goa and Mumbai, India.
