Six days are left for applicants to enter their films, web sites, print and company campaigns, and commercials in the tourism film competition “The Golden City Gate“. www.stadttor.net.

March 10 will see the launch of ITB-TV, to be shown at ITB Cinema and worldwide on the Internet. The international tourism film and media competition “The Golden City Gate” will have its 9th installment this year at ITB Berlin, hall 4.1, and is considered among the industry as the Oscars of the tourism industry.

Germany’s Commissioner for Tourism Ernst Hinsken applauded the competition’s founder and president during the Golden City Gate award ceremony in 2009, saying that “our country needs individuals who show the kind of commitment that Wolfgang Jo Huschert exhibited in creating an international film and media competition like ‘The Golden City Gate’. It is people like him who bring the tourism industry foward.”

This year will see the addition of the new “Environment” category.

34 countries had submitted 93 films to the film and media competition in 2009. All entries will be shown on a 7×3 meter screen at ITB Cinema.

40 international jurors will grade all entries according to a predetermined evaluation sheet. There will be five evaluation criteria, each worth 1-10 points. Creativity, information and emotions are important aspects in the evaluation process. The best out of all gold winning entries will get to claim the Diamond Award.
The 2009 winner of the Diamond Award was Berlin, the winner of 2008 being Sarawak.

The Golden City Gate is proud to welcome to the jury Klaus Laepple, President of the German Travel Association DRV.

On March 10, 2010, ITB Cinema will launch a new form of news coverage: ITB-TV. It will feature video coverage of interesting statements by ministers, ambassadors, state and city representatives, hotel managers and trade visitors on their impressions of the fair, uploaded daily from ITB Cinema. It also poses an opportunity for exhibitors and visitors to introduce themselves or to promote their products and have them professionally filmed.

All interviews at ITB Cinema will be conducted by a moderator from CBS – Cologne Business School. The interviewees will have the opportunity to add their own coverage to the mix in order to showcase their products, such as hotels or countries.
