On sunday 268 Air Berlin passengers boarded an Airbus A330-200 for the first non-stop flight from Berlin to Phuket. “This is a giant leap forward for Air Berlin: we are offering our customers more direct flights and more destinations in Thailand and our Thai passengers have the option of a second direct flight to our attractive capital city”, said Matthias von Randow, Air Berlin’s Director Global Traffic Rights & Political Affairs on the occasion of this inaugural flight in Berlin. Together with the Thai Ambassador, H.E. Charivat Santaputra, and Dr. Till Bunse, Head of Marketing & Public Relations, Berlin Airports, von Randow opened the new Air Berlin service.
In winter Air Berlin operates one non-stop flight a week from Berlin to Phuket and three non-stop flights a week from the German capital to Bangkok. There are feeder flights from various German and European cities. With a total of 13 non-stop flights from Berlin, Dusseldorf and Munich to Phuket and Bangkok, Air Berlin is the major provider of flights from Germany to Thailand.
