With the implementation of the summer flight plan on March 29, 2009, customers of SWISS will be able to benefit from a direct connection between Zurich and Lyon – with flexible connecting flights from and to Germany. The French metropolis will be serviced four times a day by an Avro RJ100.
SWISS is one of the few airlines capable of taking up additional destinations in the summer flight plan of 2009 despite the tense market environment and going against the industry trend by expanding their route network. SWISS will be offering connections between Zurich and Lyon four times a day starting from March 29, 2009 – with flexible connecting flights from and to Germany. In doing so, SWISS expands their services to France to provide customers with an even more comprehensive range of offers: With Lyon, SWISS is establishing the third destination after Paris and Nice, which are already being serviced successfully, providing its customers from France with attractive connecting flights to the European and intercontinental route networks via Zurich. Lyon is located in the middle of the attractive Alps-Rhone region and, being France’s second-largest business metropolis, hosts various branches of Swiss companies. The cultural heritage of Lyon, its unique location and its renowned gastronomy further attract numerous tourists to the city each year.
