According to an announcement by initiator Donald J. Trump, television channel NBC Universal and Paula M. Shugart, President of “Miss Universe” Organization, this year’s “Miss Universe” pageant will take place on the Bahamas. On August 23, 2009, the most beautiful women from more than 80 countries will gather on the Bahamas to face up to the most popular beauty pageant in the world. The glamorous event will be broadcast live from the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort by NBC and Telemundo.

The beautiful participants will be competing for the coveted title of Miss Universe 2009 in three categories: They will need to not only cut a fine figure in beach wear fashion and evening dress, but also demonstrate their inner beauty in an interview. In the grand finale, the incumbent Miss Universe 2008, the Venezualian Dayana Mendoza, will ceremoniously present her successor with the crown of the most beautiful woman in the universe.

“The people of The Bahamas are very proud and excited at the opportunity to host some of the most beautiful people in the universe in some of the most beautiful islands in the universe,” Bahamian Minister for Tourism Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace states joyously.
