Renowned tourism enterprises inform students and job entrants about career opportunities – a first at ITB Berlin: „MeerArbeit“, and initiative by the Federal Employment Office

Working where others spend their holidays. ITB Berlin is providing students and job entrants with a background in tourism with a first-grade platform for finding dream jobs or taking the first step towards climbing the job ladder. Around 50 exhibitors will be presenting their international portfolios in hall 5.1 – „Training and Employment in Tourism“.

Domestic and foreign universities, technical colleges, vocational academies, scientific institutes and other service providers offer first-hand information about studies and advanced training opportunities. For the first time at ITB, the Federal Employment Office will be presenting its „MeerArbeit“ initiative. A golden opportunity for job hunters wanting to transfer over to the maritime trade, for the Suhl Employment Office is the only one in Germany to have exclusive cooperation agreements with nearly all cruise providers. AIDA and its trainee academy, A-ROSA, Columbia Ship Management (e.g. MS Europa) and ocean carrier Peter Deilmann will be present.

At ITB CareerCenter, powered by YOURCAREERGROUP, interested visitors can learn about important details about the job market in tourism and its diverse vocational landscape. Personnel directors, competent advisors from the hotel industry (Rocco Forte Collection, Kempinski Hotels, A-Rosa Resorts) and event organizers (Robinson Club, Vamos Elter-Kinder-Reisen, Dertour) will be available for personal interviews. Those actively seeking jobs can even screen the extensive job wall, updated on a daily basis throughout the whole exhibition.

The center of attention in hall 5.1 will be the large stage, with dissertations on degree programs by speakers from technical colleges and universities, as well as lectures on the tourism industry on all five days of the exhibition. Companies from the ITB CareerCenter will inform the audience about opportunities for jobs and starting a career, as well as career prospects. These include the tourism branch of REWE Group and HRS – Hotel Reservation Service, Mövenpick Germany and Enterprise Rent-A-Car. In addition, the Suhl Employment Office will be giving lectures on job prospects in the cruise segment on several days of the event.

Wednesday, March 11, 2009, is an important date for job entrants and all those wishing to explore their career opportunities. As part of the ITB Business Travel Days, taking place on the occasion of the ITB Berlin Convention in hall 7.1, the trainee day will feature an exclusive introduction of the novel occupational image of „Fachwirt for Mobility Management“.
