Latest information for travelers on the airport blockade in Bangkok / TUI cancels flights up until 07/12/2008 / Special flights from Phuket bring about 750 guests back home

Hannover, 01 December 2008. The international airport in Bangkok remains closed because of the occupation. Therefore, travel to Thailand via Bangkok has been cancelled up until 07/12/2008. This concerns around 100 TUI customers. Different flight routes are being searched for customers who were planning to travel to other destinations via Bangkok. Alternatively, they can choose to be refunded or rebook for other holiday destinations without additional fees. Rebookings without fees are possible through 15/12/2008. This does not affect direct flights to Phuket. Travel to this destination is taking place unhindered.

Alternate flight routes are being searched for both customers in Thailand with scheduled return flights from Bangkok and travelers outside of Thailand, e.g. Vietnam or Cambodia, with return flights via Bangkok.

A total of over 750 vacationers were flown to Germany via Phuket on several special flights.
This includes around 500 guests who booked their trips with tour operators of the TUI Group. The remaining seats were made available to the customers of other German operators. Two flights are currently on the way back. The arrival in Germany is expected for this evening, 01/12/2008. The guests will then be welcomed and taken care of by personnel of the TUI Care Teams.
