Current information for vacationers regarding air port blockade in Bangkok / inbound flights cancelled up until 01/12/2008 / TUI guests on location securely accommodated / alternatives for return flights being investigated
The situation: the international air port in Bangkok is staying closed due to the blockade. Bangkok’s second air port has been blocked as well. Flights to and from Bangkok are thus still not possible. There are no signs of an early relief of the situation, therefore, TUI determined the following measures:
Flights to Thailand going over Bangkok will be cancelled from 27/11/2008 up until 01/12/2008. This concerns around 100 customers. Guests can choose to be reimbursed on the tickets or rebook without further fees. Direct flights to Phuket are not affected by this. Travel to this holiday region continue to be unrestricted.
Around 30 guests waiting in Bangkok for connecting flights to Phuket were brought to their holiday hotels in Phuket by land today. Over 100 additional guests are still staying in city hotels in Bangkok, waiting for return flights to Germany. TUI is currently looking into alternative return flights over other Thai air ports. The customers are being cared for and informed about recent developments in the situation by the local tour guides. The guests are in good health.
The situation is being observed carefully. The demonstrations are currently concentrating on the seat of government and two air ports in Bangkok.
