One of the biggest challenges in the brief history of “The Golden City Gate” came in this year´s edition with the change of the award ceremony during ITB business days. For the first time, the coveted awards were not handed over – as in the years before – during a vibrant show in the ITB Cinema, but were given personally to the award winners or their agency representatives. This change provided a lively discussion with nearly all winners. Start for next years edition kicked off.

“This was one of the most urgent wishes of our participants, who were often unable to attend the award ceremony in person due to tight schedules during the ITB trade visitors days” said Wolfgang Jo Huschert, President of The Golden City Gate on request, explaining the reasons for the change. The award winners were also delighted that for the first time there was an opportunity to discuss the films and the production process with the festival director and learn more about the evaluation criteria.
