The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is extending thanks and appreciation to German tourist couple, Ms. Stella Maria Kaleth and Mr. Jan-Philippe Leifeld, for rescuing a Thai family from a car accident on Saturday night in Chiang Mai.
“I am very pleased to learn that both Ms. Kaleth and Mr. Leifeld have so far enjoyed their holiday in Thailand, and their actions in Chiang Mai will surely be a moment to remember for all of us. After completing their travel plans in Chiang Mai, Ms. Kaleth and Mr. Leifeld will continue their journey to Phuket, Krabi and Bangkok, before returning to Germany.”

airberlin files for insolvency | German Government offers support | airberlin continues flight operations
Berlin, 15 August 2017 – airberlin has today filed to commence insolvency proceedings under self-administration at the local District Court (Amtsgericht) of Berlin-Charlottenburg, in order to continue with the restructuring process that is already underway.
The Federal German Government, Lufthansa and other partners are supporting airberlin in its restructuring efforts. The Federal Government is supporting airberlin with a bridging loan of 150Mio Euro to maintain flight operations for the long-term.

THAI and its subsidiaries announces its second quarter of 2017 with operating loss at the amount of THB 1,542 million (13.5% less than the same period last year), resulting from the escalating jet fuel prices by 20.1% and passenger yield decreased by 10.9% compare to the previous year due to the intense competition and reduction of fuel surcharge, despite cabin factor was the highest in the 10 years. After deducting one-time expenses, a loss from changes in ownership interest in Nok Air, impairment loss of assets and aircraft and loss on foreign currency exchange, THAI and its subsidiaries reported the net loss of THB 5,208 million.
