Chief Executive Officer of the Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB), Karen Bolinger, has today announced the return of Business Events Week, which will be held from Monday, 17 to Friday, 21 February 2014.
The inaugural Business Events Week took place in February this year and featured a week-long program of activities that illustrated the fundamental value of business events to the nation’s economy, knowledge base and tourism industry.
ITB World Travel Trends Report: South American travel market continues to boom
The south is overtaking the north. Growth in the South American travel market continues to outstrip that of its larger North American counterpart. This is one of the findings of the annual ITB World Travel Trends Report, conducted by IPK International and commissioned by the world’s leading travel trade show, which noted an unabated lust for international travel, particularly in Brazil.
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has announced key new appointments within its commercial division which span the globe and cater for the airline’s growing requirements.The changes see Adam Phillips return to Abu Dhabi to take the position of Vice President Commercial Strategy and Planning; Craig Thomas will move to Bangkok to replace Adam as Vice President Asia Pacific North and the Indian Subcontinent; and Alan Glover will move from Dublin to Australia to replace Craig as Manager Sales Victoria.

The impact of technological innovation and evolving media channels on tourism communication was the focus of the 3rd UNWTO International Conference on Tourism and the Media, part of an ongoing series aimed to lend tourism a higher level of editorial recognition ( Estoril, Portugal).
In November 2013, airberlin expanded its flight selection as compared to the corresponding month of the previous year. In particular, the number of long-haul connections was substantially increased in yearly comparison. In November, capacity utilization over the entire airberlin flight route network amounted to 80.0 percent and was thus below that of the corresponding month of the previous year (81.9 percent), due to the additional flight frequencies being first added in the winter.
