Wowereit: BER confirms new opening date 17th March 2013
March 17, 2013 is the new opening date for the new airport in Berlin BER , announced the Governing Mayor from Berlin and chairman of the airport company, Klaus Wowereit, today.
The existing airports Schoenefeld and Tegel remain open and in operation until mid-2013. The technical director Manfred Körtgen is fired at June 1st 2012.
The major airlines as customers of the airport are sticking to their expansion plans and will comply with their planned additional flights.
Also, the architectural firm GMP, including the famous architect Meinhard von Gerkan to lose powers
The Minister President of Brandenburg, Matthias Platzeck confirmend a large loss of image.
Wowereit also sees a lot of damage by moving the opening by one year.
