The Shanghai World Expo site yesterday came through a crucial test with flying colors.Its fifth trial day received about 400,000 visitors – the most since 200,000-odd people got first their view of the site last Tuesday. More than 60 pavilions were opened yesterday and drew understandably long queues in the 5.28-square-kilometer area. The visitor total is expected to mirror the crowd for Saturday’s official opening day. About 150,000 people from neighboring Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces in tourist groups joined locals at the site yesterday.

Today Friday, officials from 40 foreign Embassies will visit the Place. The leader of the UDD “ red shirts” has called his followers to clean the street because of this visit !

Dusit Thani Hotel undamaged – hotel still has several hundreds of guest and will not close. All guests are doing well. The hotel staff, some of the guests and GM Danny McCafferty have brought in injured people from the street to the hotel lobby where they were attended by Dusit Thani doctors.

A strong run-up to the opening of IMEX 2010 on May 25th has seen a significant number of new exhibitors deciding to take space at the Frankfurt trade show plus an upturn in stand increases from existing exhibitors.

62 exhibitors have increased the size of their stands compared to 2009 and a total of 29 new stands with hundreds of new exhibitors will be present.
