Following a distinguished career of almost 38 years with the company,
Marriott International, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAR) announced today that Reiner Sachau, Chief Operating Officer for Premium and Select brands in Europe, will retire from his position effective December 31st, 2020. Reiner has been in his current role since the merger with Starwood Hotels & Resorts in 2016 as has responsibility for over 170 hotels across 26 countries.

excellence and developed exceptional talent for the company.” German-born Reiner Sachau began his career with Marriott International in 1983 as an Executive
Chef at the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort in Colorado, a position he later held at Marriott hotels in Maryland, Toronto, Warsaw, Chicago and New York. In 1992, he was named Director of Food & Beverage at the LaGuardia Marriott, a position he held later at the Budapest Marriott Hotel, and the Cairo Marriott Hotel where he served as both Director of Food & Beverage and Area Director of Food & Beverage for the Middle East. In 1997, he assumed the role of Area Director of
Operations, Middle East & Africa, and was promoted in 1999 to Regional Vice President Operations, Continental Europe, a role that he later held for Asia Pacific & Australia. In 2004 Reiner relocated back to Europe to serve as Area Vice President for Central Europe. In 2008, he was promoted to Executive Vice President, Continental Europe. A year later he became Chief Operations Officer, Europe, with operations leadership responsibility for the European division including all brands as well as the franchise estate. In 2016, following the merger with Starwood
Hotels & Resorts, Sachau assumed his current role of Chief Operating Officer for the Premium and Select brands in Europe.
Sachau will remain with the company until the end of 2020 and will continue to support the business through what is likely to be a challenging recovery for the hospitality industry. His leadership and experience will be instrumental over the upcoming months.
