Marriott’s four-star brand Courtyard is set to grow by over 16,000 rooms in major markets in the coming years.ithin the next few years, Courtyard by Marriott, one of Marriott International’s signature 4-star brands, is slated to grow by 80 hotels and 16,322 rooms.
A strong project pipeline
According to the TOPHOTELCONSTRUCTION online database, 80 hotel projects are currently in Courtyard’s hotel pipeline:
2020 will be a busy year for Courtyard by Marriott with 35 scheduled openings which will add 7,413 rooms to the brand’s portfolio.
For 2021 the brand has 17 launches with 3,180 rooms lined up. In 2022 things slow down. Only 7 openings are planned for that year. 2023 looks similarly quiet with only 3 hotels in the pipeline. However, until then, more projects are likely to be added.
Another 18 properties are on the books for 2024 and onwards.

Top growth regions for Courtyard by Marriott
North America will see the largest number of openings at 27, adding 4,379 rooms to the market. The Asia Pacific takes a strong second place with 20 launches and 4,624 rooms while Europe comes in third place with 19 new hotels and 3,676 rooms.
The Middle East will see 11 openings while South America and Africa each have one.

A closer look at growth regions reveals that Courtyard by Marriott will grow most quickly in the United States where the brand plans to open 23 projects with 3,490 rooms.
China is another strong market with 9 hotels and 2,177 rooms in the pipeline. The UK follows with 8 new hotels while Saudi Arabia and France will get 7 and 4 properties respectively.

Noteworthy Courtyard by Marriott projects
The Algiers Courtyard by Marriott, the brand’s largest new hotel, will be launched in Q2 2020. Its 495 elegant rooms are designed with modern business travellers in mind and feature everything these busy guests need. This hotel will be part of a mixed-use development branded MARRIOTT in the new Bab Ezzouar district of Algiers.

Another Courtyard by Marriott has been planned on an island off the coast of Nha Trang in Vietnam. The Courtyard by Marriott Nha Trang Hon Tam Resort will feature inviting rooms that embrace the brand’s smart-casual style by combining modern furniture with a clean, refreshing palette. Several on-site dining venues will help guests foster connections and savour authentic Vietnamese and international cuisines.

In Neemrana, India, a 200-room hotel is set to launch in early 2021. Set within a business complex, the Courtyard by Marriott Neemrana will offer easy access to Gurgaon, India’s fastest-growing business district. Excellent connections to expressways make this hotel ideal for corporate travellers during the week and leisure guests on weekends.

The Courtyard by Marriott Heathrow Airport will open in late 2020 after the existing office building is fully converted and an expansion is added to accommodate the 244 planned rooms. The new property will offer facilities including meeting spaces and a fitness suite in line with the brand standard. Extra banqueting and conferencing facilities, as well as a sky bar and a rooftop spa, will be added later.
