The idyllic Gruyère district as the perfect setting for Alila’s first resort in Europe
The new property, dubbed the Alila La Gruyère, will be in Switzerland, and will bolster Hyatt’s luxury offerings in the region. Hyatt has announced a new agreement which will see the creation of Europe’s first Alila branded resort.
The deal involves Hyatt entering into a management agreement with Resort 4 SA, which is owned by Ben Golf Investissements SA.
One of the new property’s key features is its location. The Alila La Gruyère will overlook a picturesque lake, making it the perfect setting for a luxury retreat. It will also boast a high-end golf course with stunning views as well as an on-site wellness area.
Boasting a total of 85 rooms and 27 residences, the resort is slated to be completed in 2023, and once it is, it will mark a major growth milestone for the Alila brand, which was integrated into the Hyatt portfolio in 2018.
The perfect spot for a luxury alpine resort
The Alila La Gruyère will be in Pont-la-Ville in the district of La Gruyère which belongs to the Canton Fribourg in Western Switzerland.
It is a world-famous region known internationally for its breath-taking landscapes. The nearby town of Gruyères is a charming medieval town with world-class cheese and chocolate factories.
What sets this resort apart, is that it is set on a golf course and will offer its guests a focus on recreation and wellness.
Being surrounded by some of the world’s most pristine nature will give the property a better ability to help its guests relax, recharge and re-energize, often while taking in stunning views of Lake Gruyère.
Visitors to the resort will receive custom yet traditional Swiss hospitality as they indulge in fine dining rich in regional, seasonal produce.

We also know that well-travelled guests are looking to make impactful connections, and the Alila brand caters to this demand by crafting rare and intimate experiences.”
Growing Alila globally
While the Alila La Gruyère, Switzerland may be the brand’s first location in Europe, the brand is part of a growing portfolio with footprints in Indonesia, India, China, Cambodia, Malaysia, Oman, and the United States.

Alila means surprise in Sanskrit, which the company says is an apt descriptor for the refreshing feel guests will experience at its properties.
