airberlin has announced today that Thomas Winkelmann (57) will become the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of airberlin group.
Mr. Winkelmann will take over as CEO of Air Berlin PLC from 1 February, 2017, assuming full accountability for all group activities. He will succeed Stefan Pichler, who decided to leave the company after working for two years on the strategic turnaround of the group. Mr. Pichler achieved this by entering into a wet-lease agreement with the Lufthansa Group for 38 aircraft and through selling the short and medium haul touristic business to Etihad Aviation Group, in order to create a new European leisure airline group in a joint venture with TUI AG. The new airberlin will focus on developing its long haul network out of Berlin and Düsseldorf, with initially 75 aircraft.

Research at MODUL University Vienna shows value of Google Analytics’ data for predicting tourist numbers
Data extracted by Google Analytics from travel information sites can contribute to better and more accurate predictions of tourist numbers for large cities, especially for time periods within the next three to twelve months. This is the recently published result of a research project conducted at MODUL University Vienna that analysed the use of selected Google Analytics data sets in estimating future tourist numbers for large cities. The project formed part of the university’s research focus on the use of new media for modern management.

Thailand was announced as official host country for the SITE Global Conference 2019 after the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) or TCEB won the bid to host the world-class annual conference that features diverse representation from global incentive travel professionals.
