PRAGUE CONVENTION BUREAU ORGANIZES EDUCATIONAL SEMINAR “HOW TO WIN INTERNATIONAL CONGRESSES”.The educational seminar “How to win international congresses” will be held on April 9, 2013, at Radisson Blu Alcron Hotel in Prague. Seminar is meant for representatives of Prague Convention Bureau and Czech Convention Bureau, regional convention bureaus, convention bureaus within Central and Eastern Europe region, meeting professionals and media representatives, representatives from local associations, epresentatives of public authorities.
The event is held under the auspices of the Minister for Regional Development Kamil Jankovský and the Prague City Councillor for
Culture, Monument Care, Exhibitions, International Relations and Tourism Ing. Václav Novotný, and is taking place on the occasion of the inspection visit of ICCA CEO Martin Sirk regarding the candidacy of Prague on the ICCA Congress 2016.
The program of the seminar is divided into two sections. The first section entitled “Making first contact with the association client” will start with the presentation of ICCA CEO (International Congress and Convention Association) Martin Sirk, who will talk about tips on the best sales approach, based on ICCA´s findings and clients’ feedback. Conference Manager at International Confederation of Midwives Malcolm MacMillan will then approach the topic ”Providing Associations with added value”, and Francesca Manzani from AIM Group International – Florence Office and ICCA board member will continue with “Finding your way in a competitive market”. In her presentation, she will talk about different approaches of cities or destinations when bidding for meetings and explore what is the role of core PCO in the decision process when selecting destination. She will also introduce new ideas in incentive support, especially what can we do to be different. The first section will end with the panel discussion moderated by Bruce Redor from the company GainingEdge.
During the second section called “Implementing successful BID strategy” will be introduced two case studies. First case study “Decision process in the association” will be presented by Jan Kolář from Czech Space Alliance. Second case study will cover the London Olympics 2012 and will be presented by James Rees from ExCeL London who is also a board member of ICCA. This case study will show how hosting a major sporting event can bring immediate and long-term legacy benefits for the meetings industry. Bruce Redor, who will be also the moderator of the entire event, will between those two case studies introduce how to prepare a winning BID, and after that he will moderate the second panel discussion.
