The 26th International Travel Expo Hong Kong and the 7th MICE Travel Expo, which will this year be held concurrently at halls 1A to 1E of the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center, open only to trade on June 14 and 15 and to the public on June 16 and 17.
The Chief Executive of Hong Kong Government, Mr. Donald Tsang, has again sent his Message to welcome all ITE & MICE participants ! Officiating the Opening of ITE & MICE this year on June 14 are the Financial Secretary of the Government of HKSAR, Mr. John Tsang Chun-wah, and Mr Shao Qiwei, Chairman of China National Tourism Administration.
Featuring around 30 official pavilions and over 600 exhibitors from 54 countries and regions, ITE & MICE 2012 maintains a highly international profile of exhibitors.
Among the 50 exhibiting destinations, 42% are from Asia, 37% from Europe and Americas, 15% from the Middle East and Africa and 6% from island paradises in the Pacific and India Ocean. Some 80% of the exhibitors, who include tourism boards, hotels, resorts, airlines, travel agents, cruise, theme parks and golf clubs etc, are from abroad, and overall around 100 of them target the MICE and corporate travel market.
Pride itself for bringing in new travel ideas and products in each year, newly exhibiting destinations of ITE & MICE this year with official pavilion come from Azerbaijan and Zagreb from Europe, Kazakhstan, Penang, the Malaysian Healthcare Travel Council and Laos in Asia, and Angola in Africa ; and those with only individual exhibitors from Slovenia, Ukraine, Argentina and New Caledonia.
Meanwhile, repeating official pavilions such as Japan, Moscow, Brazil, Tunisia, Seychelles and Malaysia which in fact consists of three old and new offical pavilions, have double digits expansions this year. Exhibitors, old and new, both contribute attractive travel products and ideas !
Reflecting trend that travel fast becoming part of life style, ITE & MICE highlights themes like Cruise, Wellness & Medical Tourism, and new themes this year include Honeymooning & Overseas Wedding, Travel Photography, and Study Tour. There will again be a Hong Kong Travel Agent Zone.
Seminars and functions are always major attraction of ITE & MICE! This year, around 20 will be held in trade days for the travel trade, MICE industry and corporate travel; and some 80, which also include cultural performances, in the public days.
ITE & MICE this year is expected to draw 200 hosted and registered buyers, and 12,000 visitors with 25% of them from abroad especially mainland China during the trade days; and some 70,000 visitors in the public days. Buyers and sellers can, as before, make their own pre-appointments via our online system, or meet in the Business Matching sessions which will be held this year for the first time.
