3rd to 5th February: Largest international tourism sector meeting with tours and entertainment
From 3rd to 5th February 2012, around 300 tour operators from around the world are expected in the German capital region. Because the Pow Wow Berlin Brandenburg is taking place. It is being arranged for the second time by the exhibitor duo visitBerlin and TMB Tourismus-Marketing Brandenburg GmbH.
The tourism experts, including group and individual tour operators, representatives from travel agencies and coach tour operators as well as conference and incentive operators, have the opportunity to get to know a special side of Berlin. Themed tours take them to extraordinary buildings, such as the Garagenpalast [Garage Palace] and Schrotkugelturm [Pellet Tower]. In Brandenburg participants visit Potsdam, Neuruppin and Rheinsberg, among other places. An inspection of the future capital airport BER that will open in June 2012 is likewise part of the programme.

Growing prosperity boosts Asian-Pacific travel industry – ITB World Travel Trends Report presents opportunities and risks
Rising earnings are fanning people’s desire to travel in the Asian-Pacific region. A year-on-year comparison shows that in the first eight months of 2011 the number of Asians who travelled abroad rose by six per cent. According to the findings of the latest ITB World Travel Trends Report, next year’s figure is forecast to rise by a further five per cent.

Hilton Hotels & Resorts today announced the opening of its second hotel in Nanjing. Hilton Nanjing Riverside, the second Hilton property to open in Nanjing in less than a month, is located on the lower reaches of the Yangtze River – Asia’s longest river, and is seven kilometers from the Central Business District and 45 kilometers from the Nanjing Lukou International Airport.

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) today released its preliminary results of international visitor arrivals into Asia/Pacific destinations1 for September 2011.
Martin Craigs, PATA CEO, said: “International arrivals momentum into the Asia/Pacific region continues to hold at a relatively strong average rate of around 6%. The rising tide is not, however, lifting all boats equally. A few Asia Pacific destinations are facing difficulties and experiencing contracting numbers of visitors.”
