Under the theme “Efficient Strategic Management of Tourism and Service Industries” Maejo University held a national conference at the Centara Duangtawan Hotel in Chiang Mai on February 20, 2010. Some 70 participants joined the event organized by the School of Tourism Development, Mae Jo University – a university for agriculture in Chiang Mai, which is 76 years old.

More than 15,000 tourism professionals from over 180 countries will be converging in Berlin, Germany in early March in order to promote their countries, acquire tourists and sign contracts for the duration of a week. This makes ITB the most important trade fair of the global tourism industry. Also attending will be 100 ministers representing global politics and 7,600 travel journalists from 90 countries.

According to the breaking news of www.BangkokPost.com, the majority of judges of Thailand’s Supreme Court decided in a landmark verdict against former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra to seize Baht 6.8 billion in dividend and Baht 39 billion Baht from the sales of Shin Corp shares, totaling Baht 46.37 billion. “The dividends and the sale of the shares in Shin Corp are wealth acquired through inappropriate means,” the judges said.
