Malaysian tourist office Tourism Malaysia and Singapore Airlines invited product managers from TUI, Thomas Cook, Dertour, FTI, Asian Dreams, Geoplan, Tischler Reisen, Gebeco, Studiosus and EWTC for an informational trip to the exotic island of Borneo.

Among the natural highlights of the ten-day trip through Sabah and Sarawak were visits to the nose-apes at Bako National Park, Malaysia’s smallest and oldest national park, and to Semenggoh Orangutan Rehabilitation Center, where the group had the opportunity to observe the impressive orangutans feeding in their natural habitat.

Thailand is known as the land of smiles. And it is not only the smiles that are held in high regard by the Thai people – the pleasures of enjoying oneself and celebrating together play an equally important role. This and much more make a visit during New Year’s especially worthwhile, when the whole country fittingly celebrates the beginning of the year, the grandest celebrations undoubtedly taking place in Bangkok. More than 200,000 visitors from all over the world are expected to attend the great party at Central World Square in the city center. The festivities will be starting as early as December 21st and will have something in store for everybody, with concerts, laser shows and many other performances on the great show stage. A huge screen will show live coverage of other New Year’s parties around the globe. The undisputed highlight of the evening, of course, will be the spectacular fireworks at the turn of the year.

The 16th edition of the MITM Americas, Meetings and Incentive Travel Market, will be held for the second time in the city of Quito, Ecuador from October 6th to 8th.
Twenty eight cities from Latin America, the Caribbean and North America had requested to be MITM’s venue in 2010, Quito being the city chosen, where it already took place with great success in the year 2006.

Commercial aviation in Europe behind forecast global growth– recession-hit industry takes older planes out of service

According to the ITB World Travel Trends Report, commissioned by the world’s leading travel trade show and compiled by the consultancy IPK International, a short to mid-term rise in the price of airline tickets is to be expected worldwide. Travellers will have to bear the cost of anticipated increases in taxes and charges by paying extra for tickets, according to the report.
