Gerhard Kirsch invited 400 to Tourismus Dialog’s Summer Festival at the house of representatives of German federal state Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

 

Federal state Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania had again provided a venue for the second Tourismus Dialog Summer Festival with its state representation in Berlin Mitte. Some 250 journalists representing local, interregional and international media, including print, radio, television and agencies, met with high-profile individuals from tourism, hotel industry and gastronomy from all over the nation, as well as domestic and foreign representatives from politics, economy, sciences, culture, society and diplomacy.

UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organisation) is excited to announce its third annual online photo competition to commemorate World Tourism Day 2009 under the theme Tourism: Celebrating Diversity hosted in Ghana, on 27 September 2009.

 

The global online photo competition is open to all people of all ages. Its goal is to gather photos that reflect tourism as the vehicle that bridges cultures, intensifies understanding and fosters peace.

Guest reviews on the Internet showing effect: An increasing number of hoteliers are paying more attention to guest reviews on the Internet, eliminating shortcomings accordingly. “Looking through the reviews, one will notice how the reviews of hotels which used to be evaluated badly are suddenly improving”, said Ulrich Cramer of holidaycheck.de, Bottighofen/Schweiz, in an interview with trade magazine Top hotel. Exact figures on how many hoteliers are intensively working on their reviews could not be provided, however.

Travelers flying Eva Air or China Airlines with stopover in Taiwan get to stay in luxury hotels

 

Culture, shopping, night-time markets and city flair – the metropolis of Taipei attracts stopover visitors with a colorful mix of traditions and modern spirit. From July 2009 on, Taiwan Tourism Office’s new 1-euro promotion will make the great metropolis available to travelers on a small budget. Those visiting the Taiwanese capital via China Airlines or Eva Air up to and including November 2009 will be spending their first night in a choice of luxury hotels for just one euro. German tour operators, too, are providing a generous contingent for accommodation.

VIRCamp 2009 – exciting theses, provocative topics and a lot of fun discussion

 

An unconventional supporting conference to ‘Sprungbrett 2009′ organized by the participants themselves, the VIRCamp provided an open forum to some 60 attendants for addressing hot topics on eTourism by means of spontaneous contributions. Held in bar camp style, the very conference style that has made a name for itself in blogging circles for its creatively chaotic fashion, the event allowed its participants to listen to things of interest, give lectures on burning issues and discuss the day away.
